EKO HOT BLOG reports that according to a source within the camp who spoke with Daily Trust, the affected individuals were denied entry due to their late arrival.
Many of the stranded corps members reportedly hail from far eastern and southern states, where they likely faced travel delays and challenges on their way to the northern state.
This situation has caused significant frustration, as many had traveled long distances to fulfill their national obligation, only to be barred from joining the orientation process, leaving their immediate future in the program uncertain.
One source shared, “It’s really sad that after undergoing such a rigorous journey, we are refused entry. Some of us received our call-up letters very late and spent two or three days on the road to get here. Now, about 100 of us are stranded, not knowing our fate.”
Another corps member recounted, “I arrived on Thursday, the second day of resumption. Our vehicle broke down on the way, and I didn’t reach Kano until 1 am.
“I had to stay in Kano for a day, and when I finally made it to the camp, my phone was damaged, delaying me further.
“By the time I arrived at the camp around 11 pm, everyone was asleep, and no one was available to attend to us.”
The affected corps members are now calling on the authorities to intervene, as they face uncertainty and hardship, with some lacking even basic necessities like food.
