Recall that the university’s authorities had asked students to vacate the premises on October 1, following an unrest that greeted the death of Aishat, a final year student of the University.
In a statement issued by OAU’s Public Relations Officer, Abiodun Olarewaju, the management stated that the decision to reopen the University was taken at an emergency meeting of the Senate held on Friday October 29, 2021.

The release further stated that the students would come into residence on Friday, November 5, 2021 and will continue with their examinations from Saturday November 6, 2021 in tandem with the previous arrangement.
According to the statement, Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Eyitope Ogunbodede, charged the students to be law-abiding and not engage in anything that could further elongate the session.
It also informed parents and guardians to inform their children and wards, particularly those who have already finished their examinations to stay at home so that none of them would use the excuse of reopening the University to do something untoward.
