Oba Babatunde Ogunlaja Speaks on Epe’s Challenges
Ekohotblog reports that His Royal Majesty Oba Dr. Babatunde Ogunlaja, the Aladeshonyin and Paramount Ruler of Odo-Noforija Kingdom, has spoken about some of the problems facing Epe and its surrounding areas.
These include a tragic truck accident, damage to electricity infrastructure, house demolitions, and issues with land disputes.
The monarch shared his thoughts and called for everyone to work together to solve these problems.
Speaking about the recent truck accident at Epe market, Oba Ogunlaja expressed his sadness.
“This is a very sad event, and I pray we never witness such a thing again,” he said.
He urged truck drivers to use the proper routes, explaining that roads meant for smaller vehicles and pedestrians should not be used by heavy trucks.
“We need to follow the rules of the road to avoid such tragedies,” he added.
The monarch also applauded the Epe Local Government Chairman for organizing a prayer session after the accident, which was attended by the Lagos State Deputy Governor.
“The chairman showed that, she’s not just a chairman but a princess, because only someone from a royal family understands that when things like that happens, the next thing is to pray for those affected.
“She did not just do that but also brought the deputy governor to the prayer, which shows her love and care for this community, and we deeply appreciate her support,” Oba Ogunlaja said.
He also stressed that the authorities ensure that traders stay in their assigned areas.
“Keeping the roads clear will help reduce the chances of accidents,” he noted.
The monarch also talked on the issue of house demolitions in Odorangushi and Noforija, the monarch clarified not being involved in the government’s actions.
“It was surprising to hear people accuse me. The government made this decision without consulting the traditional leaders of the town, which was wrong,” he said.
He advised homeowners to ensure their property documents are complete.
“If your papers are in order, no one has the right to take your property. Let this be a lesson to everyone,” he said.
Regarding power supply problems, Oba Ogunlaja expressed his disappointment over the vandalism of repaired power lines.
“This is unacceptable. Damaging what is meant to serve the community is wrong,” he said.
He called on law enforcement to find those responsible and take action.
The monarch also warned against land grabbing in Eredo LCDA and other parts of Epe.
“I don’t want to hear of anyone forcefully taking land in this community.
“If there is a disagreement, take it to court. That is the right way to resolve conflicts,” he advised.
Oba Ogunlaja ended by calling for unity and discipline in the community.
“We can only solve our problems by working together and following the law. Let us all play our part to make Epe a better place,” he said.
