Ogunmodede High School in Epe was filled with pomp and pageantry on Saturday 22nd of February, 2025, as His Royal Majesty, Oba Kamorudeen Ishola Animashaun, the Oloja of Epe Land, celebrated the grand finale of his 80th birthday and 25th coronation anniversary.
Ekohotblog reports that the historic event drew a distinguished gathering of dignitaries, including the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and his wife, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, the Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, prominent monarchs, political icons, community leaders, Families and well-wishers who came to honor the revered king’s remarkable milestone.
The celebration, which was marked with cultural displays, music, and heartfelt tributes, highlighted the enduring legacy and impactful leadership of Oba Kamorudeen Ishola Animashaun, who has served the Epe community with dedication and wisdom for a quarter of a century.
In his remarks, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu praised the monarch’s commitment to the development of Epe and his role in maintaining peace and unity within the community.
“Kabiyesi has been a pillar of support and a symbol of stability for his people.
His visionary leadership has contributed immensely to the growth of Epe. We celebrate him today and wish him more fruitful years,” the Governor stated.
Governor Sanwo-Olu also highlighted the tremendous business opportunities that have transformed Epe into an economic hub, emphasizing the monarch’s pivotal role in facilitating these developments.
He noted that Alaro City, a world-class mixed-use city within the Lekki Free Zone, has become a beacon of investment and industrial growth, with 70% of the land facilitated by Oba Animashaun.
The Governor lauded the monarch’s vision, saying, “Your leadership has attracted massive investments to Epe, positioning it as the new Lekki of Lagos State.”
He further revealed that the lekki /Epe International Airport, which is set to be completed soon, would enhance connectivity and boost economic activities, solidifying Epe’s status as a major business and tourism destination.
“With the completion of the Epe International Airport, this region will witness unprecedented growth, attracting investors and creating jobs for our youth,” Sanwo-Olu added.
Traditional rulers from across Lagos State graced the event, extolling the virtues of the Oloja of Epe Land.
Among them was Oba Saheed Ademola Elegunshin, who praised Oba Animashaun’s leadership and his immense contributions to the socio-economic growth of Epe.
“Kabiyesi is a beacon of hope and a father to all. His commitment to his people’s welfare and his visionary leadership have transformed Epe into a hub of opportunities,” Oba Elegunshin remarked.praying for longevity and peaceful reign.
Adding a touch of grandeur to the celebration, legendary musicians King Ebenezer Obey and Queen Salawa Abeni thrilled the audience with electrifying performances.
Their soulful renditions and energetic stage presence created an atmosphere of joy and nostalgia, leaving the guests in high spirits.
Other notable artists also graced the stage, ensuring an unforgettable experience that resonated with both young and old attendees.
Oba Kamorudeen Ishola Animashaun appreciated the presence of all dignitaries and the love shown by his subjects. “I am deeply humbled by this outpouring of love and respect. It is a reminder that leadership is about service to humanity.
I am grateful to Almighty Allah for this journey and to my people for their support,” the monarch said.
He further called on the people of Epe to remain united and continue to support developmental initiatives that would enhance the community’s progress.
The grand occasion featured captivating cultural performances, prayers, and a lavish banquet, making it a memorable celebration of a monarch who has devoted his life to the upliftment of his people.
