Eko Hot Blog reports that the HRM Oba Musiliu Abiola Oliwo, Gbadewolu I, the Aladepekun of Odo-Egiri, has become the first king of the Odo-Egiri kingdom at the grand finale of his coronation ceremony.
The grand finale unfolded at the A.U.D Primary School, Odo-Egiri, Eredo LCDA, Epe, Lagos State, on Saturday.
The monarch, who received his staff of office from the Lagos State Government in May 2023, officially became a king at the coronation ceremony which kicked off on Monday with various events.
Proceedings at the grant finale of the coronation ceremony commenced with a call for the presence of the divine as God’s blessings were invoked to grace the occasion. A brief cultural display added to the vibrancy of the event, captivating both the royalty and well-wishers.
Hon. Monsuru Akinloye, the chairman of Eredo LCDA and the occasion, delivered a heartfelt speech in which he expressed gratitude to God and the Lagos State government for bestowing Odo-Egiri with a king after many years of being under the rulership of a Baale.
He addressed Oba Oliwo, saying, “Kabiyesi, your final emergence as the Oba-elect of Odo-Egiri kingdom is no doubt an act of God, which translates the wishes of the people and is a testament to your good deeds in your community and the entire LCDA.”
He continued, “It is, therefore, our conviction that your kingship is timely for the overall progress and development of the Odo-Egiri kingdom. We pray that your reign will record peace, tranquility, and rapid progress in the entire kingdom.”
Hon. Akinloye also called for unwavering support for the new king and urged the community members to refrain from actions that may bring disrepute to the king or the kingdom.
Oba Oliwo, in his address, expressed his heartfelt appreciation to all those who had come to share in his joy.
He delved into the historical roots of the kingdom, saying, “Historically, our fathers were known for their unity, justice, fairness, and peace, which have transcended to the development we see now. The communities around us are witnesses to all these, and we will not deviate from this path but promise to continue building on their legacies.”
He also made an appeal to the state government to explore various sectors of the community to drive development.
Oba Oliwo extended his gratitude to the distinguished royal fathers in attendance and to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwoolu for their support.
The Aladeshonyin of Odo Noforija, Oba Babatunde Ogunlaja, shared his goodwill messages, and the royal fathers took to the floor to dance to the rhythmic beats of gbedu, a Yoruba traditional music.
Thereafter, they headed to the area where the Queen of Waka music, Alhaja Salawa Abeni, captivated them with her performance, bringing an enchanting end to this historic day in the annals of Odo-Egiri Kingdom.
The ceremony was graced by the presence of various esteemed obas, including HRM Oba Ogunlaja and HRM Oba Adeshina Sulaimon, among others.
Additionally, honourable figures and distinguished personalities, such as Hon. Wale Raji, Right Honorable Ikuforiji, Eredo LCDA Chairman Hon. Akinloye, Epe chief, Otunba TJ Abass, added to the significance of the occasion as they came together to offer their support for the successful reign of the new king.
