Alluding to the beauty of the newly rehabilitated bridge, Oba Ogunlaja said the road being captured was in Lagos, not Rosenberg (a city in the U.S. state of Texas) or South Africa.

“This is our Lagos,” the Aladeshonyin of Odo-Noforija said.

“As you can see, this is a Lagos bus,” he commented as his vehicle sped past a bus painted in yellow and black (a signature colour mix of Lagos commercial vehicles).

“Therefore, you cannot say we are recording this video in South Africa,” Oba Ogunlaja said, reiterating that he was on the Third Mainland Bridge.

In April 2024, the Federal Controller of Works, Lagos, Mrs Olukorede Keisha, announced that the Third Mainland Bridge was fully opening to traffic after months of closure due to a rehabilitation exercise.

Speaking on the repairs recently, the Minister of Works, David Umahi, said: “The new look of the Third Mainland Bridge is how Nigerian roads under the Renewed Hope administration of Mr. President will look going forward. He means well for Nigeria.”

WHAT CHANGED WITH THE REHABILITATION EXERCISE?

The Third Mainland Bridge rehabilitation witnessed the total resurfacing of both lanes of the bridge.

The streetlights were also replaced across the stretch of the bridge.

Also, the medians, barriers and railings on the bridge were painted, just as the railings that were stolen or damaged were replaced.

The Third Mainland Bridge is one of the critical bridges linking mainland of Lagos to the Island.
