The first College of Primary Education in Africa, Michael Otedola College of Primary Education, MOCPED, Noforija, Epe Division, yesterday, 25th March 2021, witnessed the investiture of Rotaractor Tolulope Oyejoko as the Rotaract Club of MOCPED Charter President.
The event which saw a gathering of vibrant youths of the College was also well attended by members of the academia of the college, notable dignitaries of the community, Rotary Club of Epe Metropolitan members, families, friends and well-wishers.
In her welcome address, the Rotaract Club of Epe Metropolitan Opportunities President, Rotarian Abimbola Olaleye, described Rotaract Club of MOCPED as such that was built on a foundation of committed students of the Institution, who have carried out worthwhile projects that have benefited the college and the entire community. She however encouraged the club to embrace changes and be ready to activate their innovative and creative minds towards uplifting Rotary.
Speaking with Ekohotblog, MOCPED Rotaract Club Charter President, Rotaractor Tolulope Oyejoko, expressed her gratitude to members and sponsors for their unflinching support.
While she pleaded with Rotarians, friends and guests to continue to generously donate to the club for projects to benefit humanity, the Educational Management undergraduate promised to judiciously manage the monies generated.
“I feel happy and fulfilled for achieving this, having been the first it’s kind in the College. It came on a platter of gold to me which I do not take for granted. My selfless service to humanity was an offshoot of a conversation with a noble Rotarian and member of staff of the College and I’ve been able to use my influence together with the support of my team, to attract meaningful programs and projects to the school and the community at large”, she stated.
Oyekojo admitted the enormous challenges encountered but attributed the success of the program to dedication from members and unwavering material and financial support from sponsors.
The Club, she said, has plans to have more students from the NCE programs with at least 5 Rotaractors in each department. In the pipeline was also the determination to get members to serve on various committees at the District level.
The highpoint of the program was the conferment of humanitarian awards to some notable personalities whose leadership accomplishments are worth emulating in the community and for their selfless support to the club and humanity.
In the categories of these noble personalities include His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr) Babatunde Ogunlaja (JP Fmbe. Hons.), The Aladeshonyin and Paramount Ruler of Odo-Noforija Kingdom, Epe Division, Associate Professor Nosiru Onibon, Provost, Michael Otedola College of Primary Education, Dr Mustapha Babatunde, MD, Epe General Hospital and High Chief Charles Keshinro, Managing Partner of Charles Keshinro & Co and Odofin of Ilara Kingdom, Epe Division.
Others include Rotarian Abimbola Olaleye, Rotary Club of Epe Metropolitan Opportunities President, Dr Olumuyiwa Viatonu, Director, MOCPED Directorate of Degree and Part-Time Studies, EKSU, Rotarian Oladipo Aminat, Head, Payment Unit of Bursary Department, MOCPED, and Dr Morufudeen Adeniyi Shittu, Dean, Student Affairs, MOCPED as well as Dr Muyiwa Olaleye.
The elated awardees, in their short remarks, donated handsomely while also appreciating the Rotaract Club of MOCPED for the kind gesture. They, therefore, promised their unflinching support towards the Club always.
