“We must not let the difficulties we face lead us to misbehave or disrespect others. Respect is fundamental, and treating one another as one family is the only way we can build a harmonious society,” Oba Ogunlaja stated.
The monarch also appealed to the government to adopt stricter vetting processes for individuals seeking political office, emphasizing the need to examine their family backgrounds and past conduct.
He noted that this would help ensure that only those with genuine intentions serve the nation.
“Most of the people running into politics today do so to cover up their wrongdoings.
It is the responsibility of the government to investigate their backgrounds thoroughly before allowing them to contest for public office.
Leadership is about service and accountability, not self-interest,” he said.
He also said” if anyone run into politics with bad attitude, it will only get worse when they assume office”.
Oba Ogunlaja further urged the government to prioritize job creation, highlighting its significance in reducing youth restiveness and promoting social stability.
“Our youth are the backbone of this nation, but many of them are frustrated due to a lack of opportunities.
The government must focus on creating meaningful jobs to engage them and keep them from going astray,” the monarch advised.
