EKO HOT BLOG reports that the lawmaker representing Epe Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Hon Wale Raji, has described the Aladeshonyin and Paramount Ruler of Odo-Noforija Kingdom Eredo LCDA, Epe, His Royal Majesty, Oba Dr Babatunde Ogunlaja, as a unique monarch who since ascending the throne of his ancestors has strengthened religious harmony in the Kingdom.

Hon Raji spoke in an interview with EKO HOT BLOG during the 13th Edition of The Annual Interdenominational Prayer for Peace, Progress and Development In Odo-Noforija Kingdom, held on the second day of the Eid-el-Kabir (Ileya) festival.

The Lawmaker seeking a third term in office at the 2023 general election, described the tradition which spans over a decade as worthy of emulation for unity, peace and harmony.

”Oba Ogunlaja is a unique monarch in our constituency. Since his ascension to the throne of Odo-Noforija, he has taken actions to promote inter-faith unity.

”I am aware of the annual multi-religious prayers and I commend him for this and that has accounted for religious harmony in this community,” he said.

While he was emphatic about the emulation of such an act, Hon Raji also urged the entire community to continue to extend their hands of fellowship towards the monarch for peace and prosperity.

”I congratulate him and urge all the indigenes of Odo-Noforija and by extension, Epe Federal Constituency to emulate the good acts of the Kabiyesi and give him the necessary support to ensure that there is peace and harmony within the kingdom,” he averred.

Earlier in his goodwill message during the program which was well-attended by Christan leaders, Muslim leaders, Traditional leaders, young people, friends, families and well-wishers, Oba Ogunlaja was grateful to God for surviving the scare of COVID19. This, he said barred the palace from holding the event the previous year.

”I don’t have much to say but to thank God for keeping us alive to see another year. We had to abide by the directives of the government from holding an elaborate event last year due to the ravaging COVID19 pandemic’.

”The past elaborate editions had seen the emergence of our clerics being sponsored on pilgrimage to the holy land of Mecca and Jerusalem.

”We had to celebrate this on a low-key because we have a bigger event, my 20th Coronation Anniversary coming up soon where a lot of programmes like scholarship would benefit our young people,” he stated.

While he prayed for peace, progress and development of the community, he assured us that the subsequent one would be more elaborate than usual.

The event featured Quranic special prayer, reading from the Holy Quran, special prayer from Christian leaders, supplication and thanksgiving among others.
