EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Alara of Ilara Kingdom of Epe Division, His Royal Majesty Oba Dr Olukayode Olufolarin Ogunsanwo, Telade IV, has applauded the Association of Advertising Agency of Nigeria, AAAN. for the enviable feats achieved towards the economic advancement of Nigeria.
Oba Ogunsanwo commended the association during his goodwill message where he spoke extensively on the technology-themed Annual General Meeting at the Jubilee Chalets, in Epe.
Oba Ogunsanwo, Chairman of the Dinner/Awards event, heartily congratulated the association for her steadfastness, hard work and growth which he said has over the years built an enviable legacy for Nigeria’s marketing communication.
His Royal Majesty also noted that since the inception of the association in 1973, the marketing world has grown considerably large with a huge part of the growth hinged on the technological revolution in the modern world adding that such a switch has greatly impacted the marketing industry in Nigeria.
Reflecting on the year’s AGM theme tagged, “The New World Order: Technology as a Game Changer,” Oba Ogunsanwo said that the significance of technology and how it has affected the advertising industry can not be overemphasised.
His Royal Majesty thereafter discussed with the gathering the importance of technology in three phases, namely: Technology and its usefulness, adapting to the changing times and maximum value and fundamental growth.
While he stressed that it was impossible to attain exemplary heights without the use of technology in the new world as regards local and international broadcasting of goods and services, he noted that advertising has a strong foothold in the Nigerian digital space which encompasses social media, television, radio, and other methods.
In the adaptation to changing times, Oba Ogunsanwo noted that the internet and social media permitted many factors which gave an exponential rise to the development and change in production and promotion of the advertising world.
“The advertising agencies in Nigeria have not only blossomed nationwide but we can see the growth and respect which it has garnered globally.
“Statistically, as of 2020, Nigeria’s total advertising revenue was at an estimate of about four hundred and eighty-three million dollars (483 USD) owing a 20.5% to the internet.”
“As such, it is expected that by 2023, although television advertisement would take the lead in the Nigerian advertisement industry, the internet would, however, generate more traffic and would outperform television advertisement.
“In Nigeria, the AAAN boasts a record of over eighty billion Naira (N80b) advertising sphere which is truly an outstanding feat,” he said.
On the third pedestal which is the maximum value and fundamental growth, Oba Ogunsanwo disclosed that there was no denying the fact that technology has been deeply entrenched in the daily activities of the people, stressing that advertising agencies on their part solely depend on several necessary development and research tools that can enhance the maximum reach of audiences both locally and internationally.
Oba Ogunsanwo who believes that the AAAN has a myriad of advertising companies that are members of the body working collectively to boost the Nigerian marketing scene, seized the medium to express gratitude to the members for choosing Epe as the location of the event.
“I want to thank you for making Epe the venue for this 49th AGM and for honouring me with the opportunity to stand here before you and behold the hardworking and respected men and women who are making Nigeria the face of a blazing marketing place in Africa,” he stated.
The association, earlier before the dinner, had elected her executive members who will steer her wheel of progress for the next two years.
It was gathered that members of the association decided to write history by re-electing an iconic advertising communication magnate, Mr Steve Baba Eko as the President for another term of two years, an unprecedented feat in the association’s years of existence.

While Baba Eko promised to exhibit a strong will to do a lot more in serving the association, he also pledged to bring on board younger people.
