America’s first Black president will campaign in Pittsburgh, just a day after Harris’s Republican rival, Donald Trump, rallied supporters in the crucial state.
EDITOR’S PICKS
The influential Democrat will encourage early voting, either in person or by mail, as Harris aims to lock in support ahead of the tightly contested election.
Trump, who held a rally in President Joe Biden’s hometown of Scranton on Wednesday, will head to Detroit on Thursday to court voters in Michigan, another key battleground. In Scranton, Trump appealed to blue-collar voters, promising to ramp up oil drilling and attacking Harris on economic issues.
Meanwhile, Harris will campaign in Nevada, reaching out to Latino voters, while staying updated on Hurricane Milton, which made landfall in Florida late Wednesday. Biden has warned that the hurricane could be the “storm of the century.”
Obama’s visit to Pennsylvania marks the beginning of a month-long campaign effort for Harris in seven key swing states where the 2024 election is expected to be decided.
With the race between Harris and Trump running neck and neck, Obama, 63, is expected to energize Black and young voters, providing a potential edge for Harris ahead of the November 5 election.
