The former Minister of State for Defence Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, has expressed his heartfelt condolences at the demise of the First Military Governor of Lagos State, Brigadier General Mobolaji Olufunso Johnson (Rtd).
The senator and former High Commissioner to Ghana described the death of the Brigadier General as a great loss to Lagos and humanity.
Ekohotblog.com had ealier reported that Brigadier General Mobolaji Olufunso Johnson (Rtd) was prounced dead at about 4:15pm on Wednesday.
Obanikoro in a condolence message sent to Ekohotblog.com on Thursday described late Johnson as a fine soldier and gentleman, one of the founding fathers who fought for the creation of Lagos State. Adding that, he would be greatly missed.
The former defence minister also noted that the late Johnson set a standard of service that became a model to his successors in the state. Adding that, he was a man of class and decency.
Obanikoro’s condolence statement reads:
“GENERAL MOBOLAJI JOHNSON
It is indeed a big loss to Lagos, Nigeria and humanity. A fine soldier and gentleman. One of the founding fathers of Lagos state. A state they fought for and created in order to give indigenous people of the state a sense of pride and ownership within the Nigerian state. He set a standard of service that became a model for all his successors. A man of class and decency. He will be missed.”
