Obanikoro Applauds Lagos Youth Shortlisted for Nigerian Army
88th Regular Recruitment Process
136 Boys and 8 girls Made The Final Shortlist
Former Minister of State for Defense and Lagos gubernatorial aspirant, Musiliu Obanikoro, has commended the 144 Lagos youth recently shortlisted for recruitment into the Nigerian Army.
Obanikoro praised their courage and determination, noting their willingness to serve the nation through the military.
Speaking at the 88th Regular Recruit Intake of the Nigerian Army, the APC chieftain highlighted the progress made by Lagosians in embracing military service.
Obanikoro observed that in the past, many Lagosians were hesitant to apply for the Nigerian Army, and those who did often struggled to advance beyond the depot in Zaria.
“However, this current batch of applicants have shown resilience, energy, and the determination to excel—not just at the depot, but throughout their military careers,” he remarked.
He encouraged the recruits, comprising both boys and girls, to remain focused and excel during their six-month training program in Zaria.
Brigadier Olawale Oyetola, who also spoke at the event, provided details of the recruitment process. He noted that 407 candidates were initially shortlisted, but only 314 turned up. Out of these, 144 candidates successfully passed the rigorous selection exercises, including 136 males and 8 females.
Brigadier Oyetola emphasized the importance of the event as a platform to prepare the recruits for the expectations and challenges they would face during their training at the depot.
Obanikoro’s recognition of the successful recruits serves as a boost for youth participation in the Nigerian Army, especially among Lagosians.
His message of encouragement reinforces the significance of resilience and dedication in serving the nation.
The successful candidates now embark on the next phase of their journey, a six-month training program at the Nigerian Army depot in Zaria, where they will be groomed to serve with distinction.
