“The Owerri Central Market Complex has been planned to attract businessmen and women from across the country and beyond,” Obasanjo stated. “It will create jobs, wealth, harmony, unity, and development for Imo State and Nigeria at large. The money invested will be recouped through profit from the investment.”

Reflecting on Owerri’s significance, Obasanjo reminisced about leading Nigerian forces to take control of the city during the Nigeria-Biafra conflict, which he believed was crucial for the country’s unity.

Governor Uzodimma thanked Obasanjo for his support and promised to provide an enabling environment for the project’s success. Addressing the project’s promoter, Nze Ozichukwu Chukwu, he said, “We will encourage you to climb. Don’t be afraid, we will support you.”
