Eko Hot Blog reports that former President Olusegun Obasanjo recently commissioned a new building at Bells University in Ota, Ogun State, generously donated by Asiwaju Solomon Onafowokan, Chairman of Coleman Wires and Cables, reports Eko Hot Blog.
The building, designated for the College of Postgraduate Studies, is a philanthropic gesture from Onafowokan aimed at cultivating future leaders who will positively impact society.
During the commissioning ceremony, Obasanjo expressed gratitude for Onafowokan’s contribution to community development, defining success as the ability to make improvements. He stated that the donation has elevated the institution’s standing.
The former president emphasized that the university cannot be inherited or sold by his children, as it belongs solely to the community.
Bells University’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Jeremiah Ojediran, highlighted the donated building’s significance as a symbol of hope, progress, and potential for greatness.
Ojediran extended his appreciation to Onafowokan for his generosity, noting that the project underscored the importance of cost-effective solutions.
In his remarks, Onafowokan expressed gratitude to the attendees and apologized for the delay caused by the COVID-19 lockdown. He stressed the importance of education and supporting institutions that foster the development of future leaders.
Prof. Bart Nnaji, the Pro-chancellor and Chairman of the Council, commended Obasanjo for his contributions to education and Onafowokan for his generous donation.
Nnaji urged other philanthropists to support private institutions of higher learning, emphasizing their crucial role in providing quality education and shaping the next generation of leaders.
