According to Seun Kuti, Obasanjo stood at one time a stooge of the CIA and was loyal to former US President, Jimmy Carter.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that Seun Kuti, a Grammy-nominated afrobeat artist, has claimed that former Nigerian Head of State, Olusegun Obasanjo, was a stooge of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and a loyalist of then-US president, Jimmy Carter. Kuti made this assertion in a recent interview.
According to Kuti, the invasion of his late father and afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti’s Kalakuta abode on the 18th of February 1977 by Nigerian soldiers was influenced by the United States. He explained that the attack was primarily targeted at his late grandmother, Mrs. Fumilayo Ransome Kuti, because of her socialist stance during the cold war.

Kuti said that his grandmother was thrown out of the window during the invasion of Kalakuta by over 1000 soldiers.
He stated:
“I believe also like because 1977 this was in the height of the cold war. And she was Africa’s only surviving leading socialist at that time with any kind of real political power and clout. So, I think the attack was really 30 percent on Fela and 70 percent on her because [Olusegun] Obasanjo was really a CIA stooge. He was really a Jimmy Carter’s boy.”
Kuti added that his grandmother never recovered from the injuries sustained from the attack.
The claim by Seun Kuti has generated a lot of reactions from Nigerians, with many expressing their opinions on social media. While some believe that Kuti’s assertions may have some element of truth, others have dismissed it as baseless and lacking in evidence.
