Obasanjo’s Teacher Dies At 92
The secondary school teacher of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Pa James Akanbi Popoola, is dead.
Pa Popoola died on Thursday at the Federal Medical Centre, Idi-Aba, Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.
The 92-year-old teacher reportedly died few days after he was discharged from the hospital.
Popoola, taught Obasanjo; the Olubara of Ibara, Oba Jacob Omolade; Rear Admiral Adewunmi (retd) and Prof Saburi Adesanya, a former Vice Chancellor of Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU) among others at Baptist Boys High School (BBHS), Abeokuta.

The aged teacher’s death was confirmed by a family member, Prof Tope Popoola, who said “he died in his private residence located in Leslie road behind All Saints Church, Ilaro at about 12pm.
“Pa James Akanbi Popoola was 92 on the 28th of May, 2019. He died of old age related illness, and was on admission at FMC till last week, but was discharged on showing signs of improvement. The family is consulting to give the erudite teacher and renowned principal a befitting burial.”
