Obaseki Fails To Form Cabinet In 10 Months, Violates 1999 Constitution

It is now 10 months and 3 days following the swearing into office of Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki for the second term.

However, he is yet to form his cabinet, he has not appointed any commissioner, and SAs.

Recall that Mr. Obaseki won his reelection in September 2020 and sworn in for second term on November 12, 2020.

This is contravenes the provisions of Sections 192 & 193 of the 1999 Constitution, Federal Republic of Nigeria. Mr. Obaseki labelled his failure to constitute his cabinet on his defection to the PDP.

Godwin Obaseki defected from APC to PDP following a dramatic political rift with Adams Oshiomole, the then national Chairman of APC, the Governor defected along with his Deputy to the PDP.

The two parties in the state exchanged candidates, PDP adopted Obaseki while APC adopted Pastor Ize Iyamu, an election that was keenly followed by local and international observers.
