The Commissioner for Trade and Commerce, Mr Uchenna Okafor, in a short message, to convey the governors’ directive told all markets in the state to resume business on Monday.

The commissioner’s media assistant, Judy Jeff-Nwabueze said, “With the approval of His Excellency, Governor of Anambra State, Chief Dr. Willie Obiano, the Hon. Commissioner for Trade and Commerce (Wiper) has directed that all markets in Anambra State be opened for business tomorrow Monday, 26th Oct. 2020.”
Meanwhile, police in the state say in line with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Mohammed Adamu, it has deployed operatives to all nooks and cranny of the state to bring an end to the wanton violence, killings, looting and destruction of public and private properties by hoodlums.
A press release by the state police public relations officer, SP Haruna Mohammed said the Anambra State Police Command in collaboration with other Security agencies in the State have embarked on intensive joint patrol on all nooks and crannies of Anambra State in order to reclaim the public space from criminal elements masquerading as protesters to ensure peace and safety in the affected areas.
He said, “This (operation) follows a joint security management meeting with heads of other Sister Security Agencies who resolved to deal decisively with all acts of lawlessness, disruption of public peace and order and wanton violence.
“Indiscriminate looting, damage to property and loss of lives in some parts of the state will no longer be condoned henceforth as all legitimate means would be applied to halt further acts of lawlessness,” he said.
