October 1 Showdown: Police Teargas Protesters In Abuja

Personnel of the Nigeria Police on Tuesday fired teargas canisters at Nigerian youth protesting against the high cost of living in the country.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the protesters had converged near the popular Berger roundabout at about 7 am matching towards the Eagles Square.

In a efforts to disperse the protesters, police operatives, however, resorted in the use of force.

The protesters were calling on the President Bola Tinubu-led administration to immediately address the hunger and other economic crisis in the nation.

Recall that Tinubu had in his nationwide broadcast to mark the Independence Day anniversary, assured Nigerians that his administration is implementing many measures to reduce the cost of living.
