Eko Hot Blog reports that the Alagura of Agura, Ikorodu, Lagos, Alayeluwa Oba Ahmed Moruf Olakunle Ogunnaike, and the Oniladaba of Ladaba, Epe, Lagos, Oba Sikiru Nureni, have advocated for the preservation of cultural customs.
The monarchs made the advocacy during their appearance at Odo Ayandelu’s Agemo festival.
In interviews with Eko Hot Blog, the Alagura and the Oniladaba underscored the importance of upholding traditional customs and practices.
They emphasized that religious beliefs should not serve as grounds for the abandonment of cultural norms and practices.
During the dialogue, both leaders conveyed a shared sentiment that the essence of religion should complement rather than supersede cherished cultural traditions.
Furthermore, they articulated that while faith holds significant personal significance, it should not overshadow the rich tapestry of customs that define communities and foster societal cohesion.
Addressing individuals who may have veered away from their cultural heritage due to religious influences, the Alagura of Agura and the Oniladaba of Ladaba invited them foe reconciliation with their ancestral customs.
Finally, they urged those who had strayed from their cultural roots in pursuit of religious adherence to reevaluate their choices and reconnect with the vibrant tapestry of traditions that bind communities together.
