Odo Ayandelu Kingdom Gears Up for Ẹẹbi Festival on April 20

The ancient town of Odo Ayandelu Kingdom is preparing for a weekend filled with spiritual reverence and cultural celebration as the annual Ẹẹbi Festival, which includes the Agemo rites, is set to take place on Sunday, April 20, 2025.
Ekohotblog reports that the festival will be led by His Royal Majesty, Oba Asunmo Aderibigbe, the Alayandelu of Odo Ayandelu, alongside chiefs, traditional priests, and cultural custodians from across the kingdom.

In a statement from the palace, Oba Aderibigbe reaffirmed the spiritual depth and cultural relevance of the event.
“Ẹẹbi is not just a celebration,” the monarch said.
“It is our sacred moment of cleansing, reflection, and connection with our ancestors. The Agemo rituals within it represent a deep spiritual bridge between the visible and the invisible.”
As part of the build-up to Sunday’s main events, Agemo priests and masquerades—believed to be divine messengers—will perform sacred dances and rituals across various parts of the town, while traditional rites will take place at designated shrines and sacred spots.
The king has also issued a public advisory for all residents and visitors to avoid moving around at night on Saturday, April 19, due to the Oro traditional rites that will take place across the community.

“For your safety and to respect the sanctity of our land, everyone should remain indoors during Oro’s night movement,” the king announced. “It is a vital part of the Ẹẹbi Festival and must be observed with seriousness.”
A senior festival custodian, added: “This festival strengthens our bond as a people.It brings spiritual cleansing, fertility, and prosperity to the land. The Agemo performance on Sunday will crown it all.”
