Odo Ẹgiri FC Clinches Victory in Inaugural Eredo Chairman’s Cup 2024

On Sunday, 29th December 2024, Odo Ẹgiri FC emerged triumphant in the inaugural edition of the Chairman’s Cup football competition organized by the Eredo Local Council Development Area (LCDA).

Ekohotblog reports that the nail-biting finale, held at Ansar-ud-Deen Primary School in Odo Ẹgiri Kingdom, saw Odo Ẹgiri FC defeat Odo Oshiwọla FC in a dramatic penalty shootout after a goalless draw during regulation time.

The penalty shootout kept spectators on the edge of their seats as Odo Ẹgiri FC secured victory by converting five of their seven attempts, while Odo Oshiwọla FC managed four.

Celebration of Talent and Community Spirit

Hon. Monsuru Akinloyè Ismail, the Executive Chairman of Eredo LCDA, presented the trophy to the jubilant Odo Ẹgiri FC team amid loud cheers from an enthusiastic crowd.

Praising both teams for their exceptional performances, he remarked: “This competition has not only showcased the footballing talent in Eredo but has also brought the community together in unity and excitement.

I am incredibly proud of all the teams that participated. This is just the beginning; we promise an even more exciting edition of the Chairman’s Cup before the 2025 Local Government Elections.”

The captain of Odo Ẹgiri FC, while receiving the trophy, thanked the organizers and commended his team for their determination and hard work:>

“We worked hard for this moment, and it feels amazing to lift the trophy. I want to thank our fans for their unwavering support, and I dedicate this victory to them.”

Spectators and community leaders hailed the event as a brilliant initiative for promoting grassroots sports. A local resident, Mr. Adeyemi Odugbemi, noted:
