Odo-Egiri’s New Kingship Will Attract Federal Presence, Other Great Things – Wale Raji

By Babawale Solomon

Eko Hot Blog reports that Hon. Wale Raji, the Member of the House of Representatives for Epe Federal Constituency, has said the Odo-Egiri kingdom of Eredo LCDA, Epe Division, Lagos State, will attract federal presence for development after it received the status of a kingdom.

The Odo-Egiri kingdom witnessed its first-ever coronation of a king last Saturday as HRM Oba Musiliu Abiola Oliwo, Gbadewolu I, the Aladepekun of Odo-Egiri kingdom, was crowned king.

The Lagos State government under the leadership of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, presented the staff of office to the monarch on May 28, 2023.

The coronation came several years after the Odo-Egiri community had lobbied the state government for the status of a kingdom.

Speaking at Oba Oliwo’s coronation ceremony, Hon. Raji congratulated the Odo-egiri kingdom for the success of finally having a king, saying the new status will bring great things and development to the town.

The lawmaker reminisced on his time with the newly crowned king of Odo-Egiri while in secondary school and how the monarch later rose to become a community leader.

“I feel great and happy for kabiyesi, he’s a person I have known from secondary school days. He was my senior in secondary school and he’s been a committed community leader.

“Today that he’s being crowned kabiyesi of his community, it’s a calling to a higher responsibility and it’s an opportunity for him to do more for his community,” he said.

Hon. Raji further appreciated the people of Odo-Egiri, whom he has a special relationship with, hoping it continues to blossom for the betterment of all.

“On behalf of the members of my constituency, I congratulate him [the king] and I also congratulate the people of Odo-Egiri and Epe people as a whole,” the lawmaker said.

“Odo-egiri is a community I have special relationship with, we have done a lot together before today and by the grace of God we will build on our existing cordial relationship with members of the community for the betterment of everybody.”
