Ogun Assembly Accuses Amosun Of Shortchanging Local Govts In Federal Allocation Sharing
The Ogun State House of Assembly has accused the ex-governor of the state, Ibikunle Amosu of shortchanging local governments of their share in the federal allocation during his tenure as governor of the state.
The Assembly revealed this in a report by its Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs at a plenery session on Thursday.
The report revealed that the Amosun led administration paid only N12m to the local government areas and local council development areas in six months installments for the 30 months under review.
The House however passed a resolution titled ‘HR No. /043/ OG/2019- Report of the House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs in respect of the suspended political office holders in all the Local Government Areas and Local Council Development Areas across the State.’
The resolution was passed after the committee’s chairman, Akeem Balogun submitted the findings of the committee to House.
Balogun lamented that the Local Government Councils were shortchanged in their share of the federal allocation under Amosun’s administration.
“It was detected that each of the local government areas and LCDAs only obtained N12m each paid in six months installments for the entire period of 30 months under review. Majority of the chairmen were found guilty of complacency and docility in the face of constitutional breach on their functions and finances by the immediate past administration of the state” he said.
The report consequently recommend that those found culpable be referred to appropriate agencies for prosecution.
