EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Lawmaker representing Epe Constituency II at the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon Sylvester Oluwaseun Ogunkelu aka Sketel, has praised the legacies of former Lagos State Governor and All Progressives Congress, APC, Presidential Flagbearer, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for the entrenchment of landmark partnerships with the Lagos State House of Assembly.
Ogunkelu commended the remark at the 8th Annual Constituency Stakeholders Meeting tagged ”2023 General Elections; The Imperatives of Permanent Voters Card, PVC,” in Agbowa at the Ikosi-Ejinrin Local Council Development Authority Secretariat Hall.
He noted that the House of Assembly has over the past two decades supported the monumental implementation of development-centred initiatives, policies and reforms of the State Government starting from the era of the first democratically elected Governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu which has been in practice by his successors up to the present administration of His Excellency, Governor Babajide Sanwoolu.
”I thought it is right to let you know that committed and patriotic legislators in the State House of Assembly over the years have supported, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu in initiating remarkable and comprehensive policies and reforms that were successfully implemented and built upon by worthy, credible and competent successors who were freely elected by the people, and continued to transform the State beyond imagination, from Governors Babatunde Raji Fashola, Akinwunmi Ambode and our current dynamic and pragmatic Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu,” he said.
Speaking further in his keynote address, Ogunkelu reminded his constituents of the significance of the 2023 General elections in installing cerebral leaders in the next democratic dispensation. He encouraged the leaders across communities in his constituency to commence preparations to ensure the success of the party at all levels. ”I must emphasise that the imperatives of the Permanent Voters’ Card as mentioned in the theme hinged on the need to ensure that we are eligible to exercise our civic responsibility,” he added.
Ogunkelu harped on the need for his constituents to not only collect but also secure their PVC, stressing further that the polity would be stable if they continue to perform their civic responsibilities as enshrined in the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The representative of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, expressed dissatisfaction over the disposition of the people towards the registration and collection of their PVCs, stressing that over a million PVCs are lying unclaimed in the INEC office. He also interacted with the people as he answered questions bothering on the collection of their PVCs.
Basking in the euphoria of being re-elected as the flag bearer of the party, Ogunkelu used the medium to appreciate his constituents, particularly the Primary Election delegates, for the privilege he was accorded to serve.
