Ogunlende Joins the Effort to Shape Our Youth
Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mobolaji Abubakre Ogunlende has emphasized that the challenge of nurturing the youth cannot be shouldered by the State Government alone.
He underscored that it is a collective responsibility requiring everyone’s participation.
Ogunlende made this statement during the Thanksgiving Service organized by the Ministry to mark the 2024 International Youth Day, which took place on Sunday at Christ The Light Chapel, Alausa.
He praised the church for its proactive role in rescuing youths from drug abuse and urged other religious groups to follow suit by using advocacy to combat this issue.

“We need every parent, community, religious organisation and everyone that cares for the future of our youths, particularly those young ones whose future is being endangered by drug abuse. We cannot do it alone. As a government, all hands must be on deck to salvage our youth,” Ogunlende said.
Similarly, Permanent Secretary Pharm (Mrs.) Toyin Oke-Osanyintolu announced the launch of a Skill Acquisition Programme designed to equip youths with skills for self-sufficiency, channelling their time and energy into productive endeavours.
Pharm (Mrs.) Oke-Osanyintolu also urged parents to build close relationships with their children and take a keen interest in their lives to prevent them from seeking guidance from harmful influences.
In response, the Presiding Chaplain of Christ the Light Chapel, Revd. (Dr.) Oladele Ajayi pledged the church’s ongoing support in addressing the drug abuse crisis affecting youths both locally and nationally.
