EKO HOT BLOG reports that according to a statement by the Secretary to the Enugu State Government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, the President will commission several projects initiated by Governor Peter Mbah’s administration during the one-day visit.
In a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Alex Ogbonnia, Ohanaeze described the visit as a positive step toward addressing concerns of the Igbo people. The group stressed that fairness and justice are critical to achieving national peace and development.
“Ohanaeze Ndigbo is pleased with what appears to be a gradual shift in the Federal Government’s attitude toward the Igbo. We maintain that national peace, unity, and sustainable development can only be achieved through equity and social justice,” the statement read.
The group noted that marginalization, deprivation, and insecurity have created challenges for the region and expressed hope that the President’s visit could signal a new approach to addressing these issues.
“We hope that during his visit to Enugu, President Tinubu will make a significant move by ordering the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. Such an action would earn him goodwill among the Igbo and other Nigerians,” the statement added.
