Eko Hot Blog reports that the vibrant town of Odo-Noforija in Epe, Lagos State, was filled with joy and celebration as Ọba Babatunde Ogunlaja, the Aladeshonyin of Odo-Noforija, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to God for yet another successful Ojude Oba festival.
The annual event, renowned for its rich cultural heritage and unity, saw a grand turnout of indigenes and visitors alike.
In his address during the festival, Ọba Ogunlaja emphasized his happiness in witnessing the harmonious gathering of the three major religions—Christianity, Islam, and traditional faiths.
“I am always elated to see our people come together in love and harmony, irrespective of their religious affiliations.
“This annual gathering is a testament to our collective commitment to unity and peace,” he said.
The monarch highlighted the significance of mutual respect and understanding among different religious groups, fostering a sense of community that transcends individual beliefs.
As part of the celebrations, prayers were offered by leaders from the three religious groups.
The Christian community prayed for continued prosperity and divine protection for the kingdom, while the Muslim clerics sought Allah’s blessings for peace and unity.
Traditional faith leaders performed rituals, invoking the ancestors’ spirits to bless the land and its people.
Ọba Ogunlaja concluded his speech with a call for continued togetherness and mutual support.
“Let us always remember that our strength lies in our unity.
“May God Almighty continue to bless our land, guide our leaders, and keep us in perfect harmony,” he prayed.
The Ojude Oba festival, marked by colourful displays of traditional attire, music, and dance, once again proved to be a unifying force in the community.
It provided a platform for cultural expression and reaffirmed the town’s commitment to peace and brotherhood.
