The Alara of Ilara kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Oba Olukayode Olufolarin Ogunsanwo, in his first-ever Ojude-Oba participation since ascending the throne of his progenitors, expressed gratitude to God for the grace to celebrate with the Olu-Epe of Epe Kingdom, Oba Dr Shefiu Adewale and the great sons and daughters of Epe Kingdom, noting that the devastation of the dreadful COVID pandemic had little impact on the indigenes of the Kingdom.
His Imperial Majesty was speaking yesterday, 23rd July 2021 during his goodwill message at the 2021 Ojude-Oba Epe celebrations.
“I want to urge us to join hands together to develop Epe. You’ll agree with me that the Government of Lagos State is doing their best, we as indigenes as a matter of necessity need to wake up to our responsibilities.”
“Recently, the Lagos State Governor, His Excellency, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, commissioned a state of the art 160-bed Maternalcentrehild centre (MCC) at Epe General Hospital; he also commissioned the Regional Emergency Center which marked the end of the age-long practice of going to Lagos before having access t emergency responses. I appeal to us to protect these public properties from being vandalised.” Alara stated.
Other prominent individuals who shared Alara’s sentiments while speaking with Eko Hot Blog include Associate Professor Nosiru Onibon, the Provost, Michael Otedola College of Primary Education (MOCPED), Alhaji Saliu Okulu, a retired official of the Nigerian Customs Service, High Chief Wale Mogaji, Chairman, Lagos State House of Assembly Commission, Barrister Tunde Seriki, Commissioner IV, Lagos State Civil Service Commission, Alhaji Anifowose Dengel, Otunba TJ Abass, the Aremo of the Epe Kingdom amongst others.
They implored the people to embrace the spirit of obedience, sacrifice and altruism which are the hallmarks of Eid-El-Kabir celebrations.
In his remarks, the Lawmaker representing Epe Federal Constituency at the Federal House of Representatives, Hon Wale Raji (MHR), reiterated that his service delivery to the people was sacrosanct as he was returned for a second term in office, a tremendous feat no one from the Division has achieved.
While he highlighted his enviable achievements in office and those in the pipeline, Wale Raji assured that he will continue to carry out remarkable programs and make impactful laws with far reaching effects on the people.
Earlier, the Chairman, Planning Committee, High Chief Adebayo Balogun, the Otun Bashorun of Epe Kingdom, applauded the dedication, loyalty, commitment and understanding of his committee members towards the successful execution of the event.

The event featured both indigenous and foreign Masters of Ceremony such as the famous Yoruba comedy actor MC Ijebu, Late Toyin Kawojue’s son, Mr Sheriff Kawojue and MC Lala.
The festival also featured the traditional homage-paying , presentation of gifts to the Olu Epe, Family/Compound panegyrics, exhibition from invited organisations, music, dance as well as other assortments of merry-making.
