Okemagba Development Association Hosts First-Ever Presidential Gala in Epe

The Okemagba Development Association (O.D.A.) made history with its inaugural Presidential Gala, celebrating a significant milestone in its existence. The memorable event took place at the Okemagba Development Association House in Eredo, Epe, on Sunday, December 15, 2024.

Established in 1975, the Okemagba Development Association consists of 11 communities: Odoajogun, Odoayan, Odogbawojo, Odoshiwola, Ibonwon, Ilara, Igbooye, Odoyangushin, Odoragunshin, Eredo, and Odoroga. The association is dedicated to promoting unity, peaceful inter-communal coexistence, and fostering thriving, self-sufficient communities.

The 2024 Presidential Gala began with a speech by the association’s president, Mr. Felix Awolaja. He acknowledged the presence of dignitaries and members, shared the history and significance of the association, and highlighted future projects intended to further its mission.

The event was graced by high-profile individuals, including Madam Doja Otedola, the mother of Nigerian billionaire Femi Otedola and former First Lady of Lagos State. Her appearance sparked excitement as she looked stunning and captivated the audience with her dance moves while guest artist Sir Shina Peters sang her praises.

The Gala also featured an electrifying performance by legendary Afro-Juju artist Sir Shina Peters, who delivered a high-energy, audience-engaging performance that captivated everyone in attendance.

Among the distinguished guests was the representative of Epe Division at the Federal Constituency, Rep. Wale Raji. He delivered an inspiring speech, assuring the O.D.A. executives, members, and the entire Epe Division that he would continue to advocate for their developmental needs.

“As your representative, I will amplify your voices and translate your needs into actionable programs and policies,” he said.

Rep. Raji also commended O.D.A. for organizing the Presidential Gala, describing such events as symbolic bridges that unite people, inspire collaboration, and ignite hope for a brighter future.

The Chairman of the occasion, Chief Stephen Olukunle Bakare Oluwalologbon, was represented by Mr. Oladele Ogundipe. He expressed his joy at witnessing such an event, saying, “It gladdens my heart to know that the efforts of my humble self and the industrious sons and daughters, many of whom have passed, are not in vain.”

Chief Bakare Oluwalologbon also called for the continued development of the Okemagba communities, particularly through the empowerment of youth. Rep. Raji responded, assuring him that more skill acquisition centers would be established in Epe.

Also present was Hon. Monsur Akinloye, the Chairman of Eredo LCDA, who pledged his ongoing support and partnership with the association to foster community development. He commended the O.D.A., saying, “The Okemagba Development Association has always been a beacon of development in Epe Division, and we are confident that the new leadership will continue the work started by the founding fathers, as evidenced by today’s event.”

Among other prominent figures in attendance were royal fathers, including HRM Oba Olufolarin Olukayode Ogunsanwo, Alara of Ilara Kingdom, and HRM Oba Babatunde Ogunlaja, Aladeshoyin of Odo-Noforija Kingdom, who also extended their congratulations to the Okemagba Development Association.
