The Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, has reiterated his administration’s commitment to boosting road infrastructure in the state.
The Governor while speaking during a quarterly session with journalists in Asaba, noted that his administration was working to fast-track the completion of the Ughelli to Asaba dual carriage. adding that, the completion of the dual carriageway would enabled the state accommodate the traffic from Warri Port.
Okowa said “Today, I held my quarterly interactive session with the Press. At the session, I emphasised that my administration is working to accelerate the completion of the Ughelli-Asaba dual carriageway to accommodate expected heavy traffic from Warri Port.”
The governor recalled that when he first assumed office, his priority was to complete Ughelli to Asaba road, adding that, his administration was working round the clock to complete the section C of the road by 2020.
“When I came into office in 2015, one of my priorities was to complete the Ughelli-Asaba road. Now, my administration is working round the clock to complete Section C of the road, the area from Ossissa to Asaba between November 2019 and April 2020,” Okowa said.
He added “It is my hope that when the Federal Government, through the Nigerian Ports Authority, dredges the second part of the Escravos Bar, we will have more ships coming into Delta State, and the roads to convey the people, goods and services to and from the port.”
