BREAKING: Okpebholo Sets Up Panel To Probe Obaseki’s Administration
Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has approved the formation of a 14-member committee to investigate the administration of his predecessor, Godwin Obaseki.
The newly established State Assets Verification Committee will be tasked with assessing the state’s assets and liabilities during Obaseki’s tenure.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that a statement released by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Fred Itua, confirmed that the committee will be inaugurated on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at the Government House in Benin City.
The committee members include Dr. Ernest Afolabi Umakhihe as Chairman, with Anslem Ojezua as Deputy Chairman. Other members include Prince Kassim Afegbua, Hon. Patrick Ikhariale, Mr. Taiwo Akerele, Hon. Patrick Idiake, and Hon. Rasaq Bello-Osagie. The committee will also feature Mr. Fredrick Unopah, Frank Osumuede Edebor Esq. as Secretary, Mrs. Abdallah Eugenia, Hon. Patrick Obahiagbon, Pharm. Kenny Okojie, Mrs. Lyndsey Tes-Sorae, and Hon. Abass Braimoh.
The statement highlighted that the establishment of this committee is part of Governor Okpebholo’s ongoing efforts to drive development and foster accountable leadership in the state.
It emphasized the need for a thorough investigation into the assets and liabilities of the previous administration, noting that previous attempts by the Obaseki government had produced limited and incomplete data.
“As part of the Governor’s promise to ensure probity, accountability, and transparency in government, this committee is made up of respected sons and daughters from Edo State. It will play a vital role in ensuring that the state’s assets are fully accounted for, and that governance processes are further strengthened,” the statement read.
The committee’s inauguration will take place at the Festival Hall, Government House, Benin City, on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at 1:00 PM.
