Aina disclosed this during a quick-fire question segment posted on Nottingham Forest’s social media page.
During the Q&A session, Aina fielded various questions, including one about the player he found most challenging to defend against.
When asked the toughest player he has ever faced, without much hesitation, he said, “Cristiano Ronaldo.”
The Nigerian and the Portuguese players came up against each other during their time in the Italian Serie A.
Ola Aina was at Torino while Ronaldo was with Juventus during the time, which made them city rivals.
In 2018, Aina made a loan switch from Chelsea to Torino before securing a permanent transfer in 2019, a move that aligned with Ronaldo’s transition to Serie A from Real Madrid.
Ronaldo emerged victorious in their encounters, netting three goals in four meetings against the Nigerian.
Despite both players returning to the Premier League, with Ronaldo rejoining Manchester United and Aina signing for Forest, they never faced each other as the Portuguese departed Old Trafford prematurely.
Among the questions posed to the versatile Nottingham Forest player, another one that drew fans’ interest was about the best footballer he had the privilege to play alongside in his career.
“I wouldn’t say the best, but I’ll probably put Eden Hazard.”
