Eko Hot Blog reports that the Unified Local Government Muslim (Staff) Association, Onigbongbo Chapter, held its Annual Ramadan Lecture on Wednesday, where Hon. Oladotun Olakanle, the Executive Chairman of Onigbongbo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), spoke on the importance of good character and perseverance amidst economic challenges.
In his address, Olakanle stressed the significance of living according to Islamic tenets and exhibiting good character. “What is most essential is for us to continue to live according to the tenets of Islam, be of good character, so that all our supplications to Almighty Allah can be accepted,” he said.
Acknowledging the global economic downturn, Olakanle urged patience and turning to Allah for solace. “It’s a global issue that people in London, the US, even in Ghana are going through,” he stated. “It’s a time for all of us to seek solace in the Almighty Allah so that things can be better.”
The chairman further highlighted his administration’s focus on community development projects. “What is essential is to leave an indelible mark, whereby if tomorrow comes, you can point to some certain projects that have direct impacts on the lives of our people,” he explained.
Olakanle also discussed the local government’s initiative to provide financial grants to the elderly. “We feel this elderly should have something. it will go a long way to address their little economic challenge that will affect them taking care of themselves,” he said.
