He then enrolled at the Lviv State University of Physical Culture, specializing in sports theory, anatomy, physiology, psychology, and various team sports. Usyk graduated in 2008 with a master’s degree in physical education and sports.

Career

Usyk’s boxing journey began as an amateur, where he quickly rose to prominence. He became a four-time Ukrainian champion (2005, 2006, 2008, 2011), a European champion (2008), a world champion (2011), and an Olympic gold medalist in 2012.

He also competed for the Ukrainian Atamans in the World Series of Boxing, finishing undefeated in six bouts.

Turning professional in 2013, Usyk signed with K2 Promotions and made his pro debut in November 2013, knocking out Felipe Romero. By 2016, he had secured the WBO world cruiserweight title by defeating Krzysztof Glowacki.
