Eko Hot Blog reports that Oba Kamorudeen Ishola Animashaun, Arolugbade 1st, the Oloja of Epe land and Paramount ruler of Epe, Lagos State, has taken critical steps to alleviate the economic hardship of vulnerable residents and mitigate the effects of the surge in food prices.
Oba Animashaun, who is also the Chairman of all Obas and Chiefs in Epe Division and Vice Chairman of Obas in Lagos State, rolled out palliative measures, including the distribution of food items.
He also provided vulnerable residents of Epe with cash gifts.
In a statement shared with Eko Hot Blog by the monarch’s palace on Saturday, it said the royal father’s gesture was a practical demonstration of his compassion and magnanimity.
It was learnt that the palliative measures were not restricted to only indigenes, as the Arewa and Igbo communities in Epe also benefitted.
“The palace of the paramount ruler was a beehive of humanitarian exercise as a large number of people thronged the venue with great excitement as the food packages were being distributed and cash gifts donated to traders across the major markets in Epe for empowerment, Arewa Community, Igbo Community, Security agencies and others,” the Oloja of Epe’s palace said.
“This initiative is an important exercise for members of the community regardless of political, tribal or religious affiliations to largely benefit from.”
“Oba Animashaun once again exemplifies dedication to the social welfare of his people visibly demonstrated with this unconditional, impressive and essential humanitarian initiative driven by the passion and commitment to mitigate the effects of the present economic hardship.”
The gesture of the Oloja of Epe comes amid continuous rise in cost of food items across Nigeria.
