Olori Abimbola, Elegant Queen Of Odo-Ayandelu Kingdom Celebrates Golden Jubilee In Style

The atmosphere of the day was cool and refreshing as if it knew the celebrations won’t be elaborate due to COVID protocols. It was mid-day, and the befitting venue of the low key event was Admos Hotels and Suites, Imota, Lagos State. Exquisite and luxurious cars and SUVs, driven by creme de la creme of society from far and near, took their turns to caress the beautiful floors in the hotel compound. Under an eagle-eyed security of friendly and soft-spoken officials, getting into the main hall of the celebration was heavenly. It was indeed a sight to behold as every element of the hall glittered with ornamental decorations.

The noble gathering was no doubt dominated by Royal families as a highly respected member of this societal class was found more than worthy to be thrown a surprise birthday celebration. It was none other than the beautiful, elegant, enchanting and endearing wife of Alayandelu of Ayandelu kingdom, Her Royal Majesty, Olori Abimbola Asunmo.

The occasion was graced by traditional leaders of repute, family, friends and well-wishers some of which include, Hon. Saliu Adeniyi, Chairman Eredo LCDA, Oba Ranodu of Imota, Chairman of the occasion, Oba Alaketu of Ketu Epe, Elejinrin of Ejinrin, Obateru of Egbin kingdom, Alade Uraka of Poka, Oba Dr. Samuel O Adeoye from Ogun state, Oba Jacob Dairo Olutayo from Osun state, etc.

Speaking with Ekohotblog reporters, the celebrant, Olori Abimbola, did not cease to appreciate Almighty God for the grace to achieve such a milestone in her life. The Royal mother also expressed her readiness to do more to complement and support her husband’s achievements.

“I give good Almighty all the glory and adoration for making it this far after being given birth to by my mother. There is nothing more I can do than to give him my total cooperation on the stool. When I cooperate with him, everything he is doing will be successful”, she said.

The COVID induced low key celebration was no doubt a surprise, Olori Abimbola also bore her mind about how she felt to have been given a shocking birthday surprise. She said,

“In fact, I just know they were all going and coming. I asked my husband, where are you going, where do you always go every time? Do you always go to your third wifes or where? He said I should not worry. I said okay, if you are going to marry another wife as a Muslim, get me 4 plots of land and let me know. But to my greatest surprise today, It was a dinner they told me we were going for and on getting here today, I found out that my brothers and sisters whom I have not seen for a very long time. I was wondering about what was going on until I realised I don’t have anything to say than just thanking him for being there for me”.

While immensely appreciating the good people of Ayandelu Kingdom for their cooperation and support over the years as the unwavering support is one of the secrets of her longevity, she however admonished the people of Ayandelu kingdom to continue supporting the Royal family for growth and development.

In a related development, His Royal Majesty, Oba Alayandelu as custodian of culture and tradition expressed overwhelming appreciation to Almighty God for giving him the grace to witness such an important milestone of his wife’s 50th birthday celebration. He further extolled the virtues of his understanding wife and sued for adequate support from indigens for the development of Ayandelu kingdom.

His Royal Majesty said: “I feel glad, I feel happy and I give glory to Almighty Allah who has sustained me and my wife for her to have attained the golden age of 50 years and 25 good years of marriage. It is worthy of celebration. I am really happy today and I am joyful”.

It is a fact that the celebration of 50 year birthday is a landmark achievement in the life of any human, Kabiesi Alayandelu in a delightful manner described his better half in a few words.

He said: “Olori Abimbola Asunmo is a mother, she is a wife, sister and confidant. Although there is no marriage that is perfect, because I am a troublemaker at times at home but yet she understands me, that is why we don’t quarrel. Even when I am annoyed, she knows how to calm me down and I am really grateful to God. If I have the opportunity of coming back to this life again, I will still want to marry Abimbola as a wife”.

His Royal Majesty, Oba Asunmo also used the medium to appreciate the cooperation ad support of thee good people of Ayandelu kingdom since he ascended the throne of his forefathers in the past 11 years. He noted that the support of the Ayandelu people has culminated into tremendious developmental work from government and private organizations. “When you continue to support and pray for your oba, a lot of investments would be coming in. Recently, the Commissioner for Special Duties visited me last week, they are bringing the NYSC permanent camp from Iyana-ipaja down to Odo-Ayandelu”, Kabiesi said.

As regard the stealth and moderate planning of the surprise birthday event, Kabiesi hinted that the plan was conceived in the past two weeks with her daughter due to the fact that most of his children are caught in the web of the lockdown abroad. He frowned at how the COVID protocols forced the Royal family to have a low key celebration in a surprise package mode. He added that in order to control crowd, the celebration was shifted to Imota LCDA, Olori Abimbolas home town.

When our reporters sighted Her Royal Majestys sleek, ravishing daughter, Princess Mariam Asunmo, she did not hold back in expressing her excitement. She also took conscious efforts to say a few words about her mother who she described as the best of two mothers in the world in spite of her being strict.

“My name is Mariam Asunmo, the celebrants daughter. I must indeed say that I am very pleased and delighted that everything I was trying to plan to make a surprise for my mums 50 years turns out to be a successful event. So, I want to bless Gods name for making it a successful event and I want to thank everyone for coming today to celebrate with my mum”, she said.

On how she feels like to be the celebrants daughter, she said she was speechless. “I don’t know the right adjective to use to qualify that but I am very lucky to be a part of the family. I have never for once regretted to be a part of the family”, she said.
She also said a few words about her mother, she is strong, she is a fighter, she is a warrior, she is a very strict woman. My mum is impeccable, pleasant and like I mentioned inside, there are only two mothers in the world, that is my mother and every other mother.

While the celebration was on top gear with merriment, dance and photo sessions, one of the invited guests who graced the occasion, Hon. Saliu Adeniyi, the Executive Chairman, Eredo LCDA, Lagos state stormed the hall with his entourage.

He spoke with Ekohotblog reporter on the reason why he came to felicitate along with his management team which included his Vice and other members of the executive. He said;

Kabiesi is a good father to all of us. He has been there with us through thick and thin and every journey that I have made as a politician, kabiesi has been there. He is worth it to look for occasions and to assure him of our support, that we can assure him the relationship is strong and intact, and that we can also show and appreciate him for what he has done for all of us. We are here to celebrate Olori Abimbola, we wish her well, we support the kingdom, he’s been a leader and a father.

The trail blazing Hon. Saliu admonished the Celebrant to continue to be the strong backbone of Kabiesi as regards the growth of the community. He also admonished Olori Abimbola to keep having harmonious working relationship with Kabiesi. Her wisdom, knowledge and experience as she gets older is trusted to be brought to bare in the administration of Odo-Ayandelu community. He thereby enjoined members of the community to keep supporting the leadership of Oba Asunmo.
