EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Olota of Otta Ikosi, Ikosi Ejirin LCDA, in Epe Division of Lagos State, Oba Elias Omoloro Adedapo Ijelu (IJELU 1), on 19th June, celebrated the first year anniversary of his ascension to the throne of his ancestors.
The King’s cultic group, who according to tradition were the community priests, kicked off the much-anticipated event with a cultural display.
The priests who were dancing barefooted later joined the Oba who made his grand entrance to the venue by dancing around the event tent three times before settling down to greet the guest and join the occasion.
As one of the events lined up to mark the anniversary, one of the female chiefs was conferred with the chieftaincy title of “Yeye Shobaloju Of Ota-Ikosi”.
After performing the traditional rites, which were facilitated by one of Epe royal fathers present, HRM Oba Aderibigbe Asumo Ganiu, the paramount Rule and Alayandelu of Odo-Ayandelu kingdom, the new ‘Yeye Shobaloju of Ota-Ikosi’ and her husband danced three times to the ancient ‘Gbedu’ drum in accordance to the Yoruba culture.
Oba Elias Omoloro Adedapo in the company of all the Obas present at the event cut the anniversary cake and took turns taking pictures with families, friends, different groups, and socialites present at the event.
In attendance were Royal fathers from different parts of the state and one thing that was very obvious was the kind of love other royal fathers at the event showered on the Olota.
Oba Elias Omoloro Adedapo, who spoke with EKO HOT BLOG described his one-year reign to be a sneak peek of what is to come for the people of Otta-Ikosi.
He said, “Since I was crowned the Oba of my community, I’ve been working really hard to make sure the Ota-Ikosi kingdom gets a fresh breath. I’ve been working on many things to bring more development to our community.
“I sent some letters to the state government, stating the things we lack, like a general hospital, Police station for proper security of lives and properties, construction of our roads, and lots of other amenities that we need to better the lives of the Ota-Ikosi people.
“Ota-Ikosi became a well-known community all over the world after I became the king, and I’m ready to give my people and the community all the exposure they deserve to further enhance the growth and development of the community.”
Recounting his experience in the last year, Oba Elias thanked the Almighty God who has been at the center of it all, for ordering his steps to lead the people in the right direction.
