Eko Hot Blog reports that Betty Irabor, a Nigerian columnist and founder of Genevieve Magazine, has debunked rumours that Olu Jacobs, a veteran Nollywood actor, has passed away.
Irabor dismissed the death rumours in a post on X on Sunday.
Eko Hot Blog had earlier reported that rumours of Jacobs’ supposed death trended on social media.
However, this medium could not confirm the trending reports as reported here.
It was at least the third time in three years that such rumours had spread on social media.
Reacting to the latest rumours, Irabor, who is close to the family, said they should be ignored.
“Olu Jacob is well and alive.. pls [please] ignore all rumors of his passing,” she wrote.
Before today, the last time rumours of Jacobs’ death spread was in August 2022.
His wife, Joke Silva, debunked the rumours at the time.
She wrote, “Good day everyone, trust all is going well. The Jacobs Clan would love to inform you that Papa J (Olu Jacobs MFR), is alive and well; enjoying himself as always in the comfort of his home and loved ones.”
Silva also threatened legal action on the propagators of the fake news.
The origin of the latest rumours was unclear as of the time of filing this report.
