EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Oluwo of Iwo land, Adewale Akanbi (Telu 1), is set to marry Princess Firdauz Abdullahi of the royal family in Kano.

Following that, a ladies-only reception will be held at the palace of Kano’s Emir, HRH Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero.

In 2019, the monarch divorced his Canadian-born wife, Chanel Chin, due to irreconcilable differences.

This online media platform recalls that Oluwo confirmed his upcoming wedding in an interview with BBC, stating that the date will be made public soon. On Tuesday, March 8, he announced the wedding date in a statement on his official Facebook page.

The bride-to-be was described as a “matrimonial material and morally upright princess” in the statement.

“History Made: Royalty Meets, Weds Royalty. A great wife, matrimonial material and morally upright princess becoming an empress,” the statement reads.

“The glory is not mine alone. It belongs to all of us who trust in our way, an undiluted monarchy that resigns only to God, The Creator. We reference God for everything.”

Mr Akanbi, who was crowned Oluwo of Iwo in November 2015 at the age of 48, married his first wife, Jamaican Chanel Chin, shortly after taking the throne.

The union, which produced a son named Oduduwa, ended due to irreconcilable differences, according to the monarch.

Ms. Chin is the daughter of Jamaican reggae star Ludlow Chin, also known as “Bobo Zaro,” who is best known for his collaboration with Capleton on the song “Pain.”

In February, a letter surfaced on the internet claiming that Oluwo had requested N20 million from the governor of Osun state to fund his wedding because it was a marriage of two important institutions in Nigeria.’

The letter, stamped and dated February 8, sparked widespread outrage.

Within minutes, a spokesperson for the monarch denied receiving the letter, claiming that it did not come from the palace.

He claimed that the letter lacked Oluwo’s basic in-house style.
