The United States retained its dominance in men’s basketball by clinching the gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics, defeating France 98-87 in the final at Bercy Arena.
Despite challenges from other top teams like Serbia, Germany, and Canada, the U.S. proved its supremacy once again.
Led by a star-studded lineup including LeBron James, Steph Curry, Kevin Durant, and Devin Booker, Team USA relied heavily on their three-point shooting and fast-break points to secure the win.
In a game that felt like an away match due to the passionate French crowd, the U.S. displayed resilience and skill.
LeBron James contributed 14 points, 10 assists, and six rebounds, while Steph Curry led the scoring with 24 points, all from eight three-pointers. Kevin Durant and Devin Booker added 15 points each to the tally.
The Americans dominated from beyond the arc, making 18-of-36 three-pointers, outscoring France 54-27 from that distance, and outpacing them 31-9 in fast-break points.
Although France closed the gap to within two possessions late in the game, a clutch three-pointer from Curry and free throws from Durant sealed the victory for the U.S.
“This has been an amazing experience, a beautiful experience, and I’m very lucky to coach these guys,” U.S. coach Steve Kerr said. “We had a wonderful group of players, all committed to winning and supporting each other, and they didn’t let anything stand in the way of the gold medal.”
This victory solidifies the U.S.’s position as the top contender in global basketball, keeping the Olympic gold firmly in their grasp as they look ahead to the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
