Omo Ghetto The Saga
  • Omo Ghetto The Saga has yet again hit another landmark on Netflix as the most-watched Naija title. The film is reportedly now leading the race in one of the most reputable streaming platforms.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that Funke Akindele’s Omo Ghetto The Saga has hit a new record on Netflix.

According to Flix Patrol, the comedy sequel has stayed on the streamer’s top 10 list as the longest-running title for a Nollywood picture with a total of 98 days.

Released in 2020, the comedy sequel starring Akindele in the dual role as twin sisters, ‘Omo Ghetto’ grossed over N500 million making it the highest-grossing film in the Nigerian box office.

Following its successful cinema run, the film debuted on Netflix in 2021, also to impressive reviews.

Also starring Chioma Akpota, Nancy Isime, Eniola Badmus, Tina Mba, Bimbo Thomas, Deyemi Okanlawon, and Mercy Aigbe among others, the film follows the story of twin sisters leading separate lives but are reunited by a series of dramatic events.

A brief summary of the movie showcase the life of twins who are reunited as a good-hearted female gangster and her uptight rich sister take on family, crime, cops, and all of the trouble that follows them.

One is refined, educated, and sophisticated. She delivers motivational speeches to young girls with finesse. The other is the Queen of the Ghetto and the leader of the Askamaya Bees. Apparently, she gives speeches too, that too with braggadocio.

The nostalgia of a sequel to a classic, an impressive cast, top-notch production, and most importantly, a familiar but compelling story. The movie has been named the highest-grossing Nollywood movie of all time after raking in more than N468 million at the box office in one month.

The film, a follow-up to Omo Ghetto (2010), builds upon the previous storyline which involves a twin with contrasting lifestyles.

In ‘Omo Ghetto: The Saga’, Lefty is the hero. She goes about helping the less privileged.

She would destroy drugs found on a young boy because he was too young to be peddling drugs even after protecting him from the police. She is that heroic but her adopted mother, her twin sister, and beau, Femi Stone, a yahoo-boy beautifully played by Deyemi Okanlawon, are her weaknesses.
