Ondo: 14-year-Old Boy Remanded In Custody For Allegedly Killing Neighbor Over Girlfriend

A 14-year-old boy has been remanded in custody for allegedly killing his neighbour with a pair of scissors during a scuffle over a girlfriend.

He was charged to court and arraigned on one count of murder, to which he pleaded not guilty.

The court granted the request to keep him in custody until further hearing is planned.
Eko Hot Blog reports that a 14-year-old boy named Marvelous Asefon has been remanded in custody by the Ondo State Magistrate Court in Akure for allegedly killing his neighbor, Sunday Ogele.
It was gathered that the defendant was arrested by the men of the State Police Command for stabbing the deceased to death with a pair of scissors during a scuffle over a girlfriend, in Oka Akoko, the headquarters of Akoko South-West Local Government Area of the state in April.

He was later charged to court and arraigned on one count of murder.
The charge read, “That you, Marvelous Asefon, ‘m’ on April 20 Sunday, 2023 at 8:pm at Kanmu, Oka-Akoko in the Ondo State Magisterial District, did kill one Sunday Ogele ‘m’ 17 years old by stabbing him with scissors in his rib, which led to his death.”
According to the prosecution, the offence contravenes Section 319(1) and 316 of the Criminal Code, Cap 37, Vol. 2, Laws of Ondo State, 2016.
The defendant however pleaded not guilty to the charge but his plea was not taken by the court.
The prosecutor, Martins Olowofeso, then applied to have Asefon kept in custody until the Director of Public Prosecutions of the state issued advice on the case. The court granted the request, and the case was adjourned until June 11 for further hearing.

The magistrate, Folashade Aduroja ordered the remand of the defendant and adjourned the case till June 11 for further hearing of the case.
