The African Democratic Party has rejected the results of the local government election in the Ondo State less than 24hours the State Independent Electoral Commission announced the results of the election.
According to the results of the council election held last Saturday, August 22, across the 18 local governments in the state, announced by the chairman of the ODIEC, Prof Yomi Dinakin, the ruling All Progressives Congress won all the chairmanship seats in the election.
However, the ADC in Ondo West and Ondo East Local Government Areas of the state called for the cancellation of the results in the two local governments over alleged massive electoral malpractices.
Speaking with journalists in Ondo town on Monday, August 24, the chairman of the party, Pastor Oladimeji Owolabi, alleged that the election was characterised by irregularities.

“There were too many cases of multiple thumbprinting in the just concluded council poll in Ondo West Local Government Area and there is a need to cancel the election.”
Similarly, the Chairmen of ADC in Ondo East and Ondo West Local Governments, Mr Pius Akinde, and Dr Ola Akinola, respectively, said ODIEC should cancel the result in order to douse the tension in the area.
However, the State Chairman of the APC, Mr. Ade Adetimehin, denied the involvement of his party members in alleged violence and malpractices.
Also, the state Police Public Relations Officer Mr Tee–Leo Ikoro, said the men of the command were not involved in the election malpractices.
