Eko Hot Blog reports that the stage is set for a major political showdown in Ondo State as the All Progressives Congress (APC) prepares to hold its governorship primary election on Saturday.
According to the party’s National Organising Secretary, Muhammad Argungu, a total of 171,922 members drawn from the 203 wards across the state’s 18 local government areas will determine the outcome of the exercise.

Sixteen aspirants, including the incumbent Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa and Senator Jimoh Ibrahim, are vying to clinch the sole APC governorship ticket for the forthcoming election. Other notable contenders include Senior Advocate of Nigeria Olusola Oke, former Nigerian Medical Association President Prof. Francis Faduyile, and APC National Vice Chairman (South West) Isaac Kekemeke.
Argungu confirmed that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has provided a verified Certified True Copy and the party’s membership register, reflecting the eligible voters for the primary election.
Addressing the inauguration of the Governorship Primary Election Committee and Primary Election Appeal Committee, Argungu assured the aspirants of a fair and transparent process. “All aspirants are assured of equity and a fair process through which the candidate for the All Progressives Congress can emerge,” he stated.
The APC National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, charged the primary election committee to uphold the highest levels of integrity and transparency, emphasizing the party’s commitment to a credible exercise. Ganduje also disclosed that proper security arrangements have been made, and all relevant documents will be made available to the officials ahead of the poll.
