Ondo Govt Orders Deployment of Security to Shoprite, MTN Offices

The Ondo State Government has ordered the deployment of security to Shoprite and MTN offices in order to prevent those protesting the xenophobia attack on Nigerians in South Africa from attacking the facilities.

The Acting Governor, Hon Agboola Ajayi said the deployment was a sequel to the report that some people might attack the conglomerate in Akure, the State capital

Promptly, the armed policemen have moved to the Shoprite gate in Alagbaka area of Akure, the State capital.

The heavily armed policemen were also stationed at strategic area of the Alagbaka area in order to prevent breach of peace.

Agboola in a statement by the Deputy Chief Press Secretary, Babatope Okeowo decried the xenophobic attacks on Nigerians in South Africa but warned against a retaliatory attack on part of Nigerians.

He said two wrong cannot make a right, saying Nigerians should not take laws into their own hands.

According to him, the Shoprite and MTN facilities belonged to Nigeria and not to South Africa. He said the attack on such facilities would be double jeopardy on part of Nigeria.

Agboola said Nigeria only got a franchise of these companies from South Africa and it would be wrong to avenge the atrocities of South Africans on Nigeria.
