Eko Hot Blog reports that in a distressing incident, a man identified as Maliki Onose and his son Jethro fell victim to a kidnapping while traveling along the Benin-Owo road in Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State on Monday.
The gunmen waylaid them and dragged the father and son into the bush, disrupting their routine school journey after a three-week holiday.
After a tense two-day ordeal, the Ondo State Commander of the Amotekun Corps, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, confirmed the release of the victims on Wednesday.
“The father and his son are safe and have reunited with their family,” Adeleye stated, highlighting the successful outcome of the joint operation.
Adeleye credited the collaboration between the Navy and Amotekun operatives for making the release possible. “The release of the victims was made possible through the collaboration of the Navy and Amotekun operatives,” he remarked, underscoring the importance of inter-agency cooperation in such critical situations.
The incident has once again shed light on the lingering issue of insecurity on Nigerian roads, prompting calls for heightened vigilance and enhanced security measures to safeguard citizens.
Consequently, as the Onose family reunites, the community breathes a collective sigh of relief, grateful for the successful rescue operation by the security forces.
