The Governor of Ondo State and APC governorship candidate, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, cast his vote at Polling Unit 05 in Igbo Ward 4, Obenla community, Ilaje Local Government Area, on Saturday.

Aiyedatiwa arrived at the polling unit at 8:46 am, accompanied by his security aides, and voted at 8:50 am amidst cheers from his supporters.

Speaking to reporters after voting, the governor praised the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for ensuring early arrival of election materials and the smooth conduct of the exercise, particularly in his ward.

“From what I have seen today, the election is peaceful, and I have cast my vote. I commend INEC and the security agencies for their professionalism. I urge the people of the state to come out and exercise their franchise without fear or favour,” Aiyedatiwa stated.

The governor expressed confidence in his victory, citing his performance in office over the past 10 months and the positive reception from voters during the campaign.

“Based on the works we’ve done and the love from the people, I believe I’m in a strong position to win. I visited all 18 local government areas and engaged directly with the communities. The overwhelming turnout during the campaigns gives me confidence that this support will translate into votes,” he said.

Aiyedatiwa also highlighted the peaceful atmosphere in his community, urging voters across the state to participate peacefully.

“Here in my community, it’s calm and peaceful, with a good turnout. I believe this will be replicated across the state. The security agencies have been well-deployed to address any threats, and Ondo remains one of the safest states in Nigeria. I expect a peaceful, credible, and transparent election,” he added.

He encouraged eligible voters to come out en masse and decide their future, assuring them of a secure and calm environment throughout the election.
