Video Assistant Referee (VAR) has been active since the beginning of the season, its introduction was to help Referees in decision making especially in the issue of Offsides and Infringements leading to a goal.
Its early efficiency attracted the applause of the fans and football pundits across the globe but in recent matches its decisions has become controversial. Some of the decisions taken by VAR has caused alot of problem between football fans, EKO HOT BLOG gathered.
As the league is nearing completion., VAR Officials should be more vigilant with their decisions because this stage is a crucial one.
Here are some of their controversial decisions against teams.
(1) The match between PSG and Manchester city yesterday, PSG was denied a penalty after João Cancelo pushed Neymar down inside the box.
(2) Manchester city were not given a red card after Kevin De Bruyne clearly stamped on Danilo’s ankle, Before that incident, Gana was sent off for the same foul challenge against a city player.
(3) Real Madrid’s goal against Chelsea should have been cancelled because Casemiro pushed Azpilicueta down while trying to head the ball away before Edar Militao assisted Karim Benzema’s goal

(4) James Milner shouldhave been sent off after stamping on Karim Benzema’s ankle, he was given a yellow card.
(5) Atletico Madrid should have been awarded a Penalty after Azpilicueta grabbed their player down during second leg in England.
(6) VAR allowed an offside goal scored by Chelsea, Atletico Madrid’s player mistakenly kicked the ball backward while trying to clear the ball and Oliver Giroud picked it and scored. It was never a deliberate pass.
